檳城蛇廟是坐落在峇六拜機場約三公里處的雙溪居鑾，由一位中國僧人（祖師公）建立。蛇廟的建立有個說法，依照命理學的說法，每年第六天是蛇日，也是清水祖師的生日。蛇是一種很有靈性的動物，在聖人寶誕的時候會從四面八方跑到廟裡來為祖師爺慶壽，剛巧蛇廟外面有一座由石刻做成的石敢當，把五行之氣都拒諸門外，讓廟內陰氣飽滿蛇廟，再配合那兒的地理風水，就變成了蛇聚集的好地方。可是不久後因為要拓寬場地而把石敢當及戲台給拆掉，因此破壞了蛇喜歡的環境，所以從此以後蛇就不來此地了。
踏入蛇廟，若不是因為它背後的歷史和外面擺著的紀念品檔口，不知道的人真的會以為它只是一座普通的廟宇。想到很小很小的時候，媽媽就曾經說過蛇廟裡到處都是蛇，還一直叮著我說千萬別去蛇廟，不然上個廁所都會遇見蛇。可是現在的蛇廟，蛇依然還有，但卻集中在廟裡的一個大廳，而青龍蛇也主要繞盤在藤子上、木架上及照片的木框上，並沒有如媽媽所說的那麼恐怖！這次來到蛇廟的目的並不是參觀這座廟宇，而是為了入場參觀蛇廟裡的蛇場！蛇場內展覽了多國不同種類的蛇，入場後，有專人帶領介紹每一種蛇的特徵和危險程度。而那兒的蟒蛇是任由顧客觸摸的，聽說如果從蟒蛇的頭摸到尾，就會一整年行好運。有時說到興起時，工作人員還會拿出關在籠子裡沒有毒的小蛇出來給觀眾抱著拍照呢！
